This high-altitude Himalayan expedition is designed to develop your mountaineering skills and put you in striking distance of several unclimbed summits of India’s Ladakhi Himalaya.
As part of a climbing and field research team you will be involved in numerous projects including physiology, botany and glaciology. Beginning with an acclimatisation phase in Delhi and Leh where you will have time to take in the culture and history of the area as well as pack kit and make plans for the coming weeks, you will then join Sherpas to trek into remote valleys and establish a base camp with your team.
Your expedition will be divided into two valleys with different mountaineering and fieldwork objectives. Base camp will be your place of refuge and social activity with other fires and you will not want to drag your feet here as there is a huge amount of terrain to get up and conquer.
Surrounded by ice-capped peaks you will undertake training in glacier travel and rope-work before moving onto progressively higher mountain terrain.
