New Arctic Skills Course

Based on 60+ years of polar expedition experience, BSES is proud to launch the new Arctic skills Course in Svalbard, beginning in the spring of 2010.

Designed for those preparing to work or embark on extreme adventure in the polar regions, this course trains adult participants in the essential skills of polar bear defense, rifle training, glacier travel, mountaineering safety, winter navigation, pulk handling, bivouac techniques, cooking methods, communications and much more.
Course participants will accompany a long-term expedition team as they establish a spring base camp and undergo initial training.  Working with a high instructor ratio your skills will rapidly progress allowing you to set off on a journey into the remote icefields and ascend the high peaks of the region.
