The Dangoor Next Generation Programme is BSES’s outreach programme for young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in expeditions like ours. We engage young people in a fully supported 11 month training programme in preparation for a five week wilderness expedition.
We believe that anyone can participate in our expeditions given the right attitude, and the Dangoor Next Generation Programme’s greatest success is that it truly encourages people to believe in themselves, their abilities, and consequentially, their potential for the future.

Now in our fourth year we are continuing the programme, which consists of a variety of challenging training weekends, including an ascent of Mount Snowdon. Training weekends are designed to teach basic outdoors skills combined with personal development and social skills including self confidence, communication, teamwork and leadership skills.
We also provide fundraising support for the subsidised expedition price, from experienced mentors.
To date 39 young people have taken part in our outreach training programme, with 14 having achieved a full BSES expedition as a result. Participants who admitted that their biggest problem in life was boredom and who at the start were quiet and awkward, returned from their expeditions transformed. Some have stayed in close contact with BSES, and have helped to interview and mentor new groups as mature young leaders. We are very proud of what they have accomplished.

The Dangoor Next Generation Programme is operated with considerable support from the Dangoor family - we are enormously grateful to the family for their continued support.
